Cappie's thyroid level has remained level the last couple months and his hair is growing back in fast. He will need to remain on thyroid supplementation throughout his lifetime; however, levithyroxine is a very inexpensive prescription. He has also shown signs of seasonal allergies that may need to be addressed on a regular basis based on where he lives. A good quality GRAIN FREE kibble is the best for ALL DOGS, but will be mandatory for Cappie.
Cappie would do best in a home without another male or hyper dog. If you're lonely and favor communicating with your dog, Cappie is the happy groaning/moaning/fetch playing dog for you !
Our precious 7 year old diamond in the rough male sheltie is CAPPIE, truly an ambassador for the breed. Sadly, he found himself in the wrong family, one that did not care for his medical needs and he was allowed to become miserable with a very treatable thyroid imbalance. While it will take some time and patience (therapeutic bathing and regular T4 testing to regulate his medication) his hair will eventually grow back in, allowing him to once again become a handsome prince.
